Като първи маршрут от този вид в България, целта му е да повиши осведомеността за богатото мозаечно наследство на града, докато насърчава опазването и популяризирането на този завладяващ аспект от културното ни наследство. Показаните мозайки, украсяващи както обществени, така и частни сгради от римския Филипопол и социалистическия Пловдив, въплъщават уникалния дух на съвременния град с хилядолетна история. "Древни и съвременни мозайки на Пловдив" е своеобразен каталог и пътеводител, създаден от специалисти, за да представи историческия контекст, технологията и интерпретацията на включените мозайки, по начин, достъпен за широка публика.
This bilingual book presents an in-depth exploration of ancient and contemporary mosaic art in the city of Plovdiv, featuring examples included in the "Mosaic Tour of Plovdiv," established in 2021 by the Balkan Heritage Foundation with financial support from the Municipality of Plovdiv. As the first tour of its kind organized by the Balkan Heritage Foundation in Bulgaria, it seeks to raise awareness of the city's rich mosaic artistic heritage while promoting the preservation and dissemination of this fascinating cultural aspect through the development of additional tours throughout the country. The showcased mosaics, adorning both public and private buildings from the periods of Roman Philippopolis and the mid-20th century, embody the unique spirit of modern Plovdiv, a city with a history spanning millennia.
